Volunteer with RPS
Thanks for your interest in volunteering at RPS! We have opportunities for everyone to get involved in supporting our incredible scholars and dedicated staff. Please read our volunteer handbook to learn more about the different volunteer roles you can support in our schools.
Step 1: Read our Volunteer Handbook
Before applying, all volunteers must read and agree to all terms in our volunteer handbook. Within the handbook, you will be able to review what roles require volunteer applications, background checks, volunteer orientations, and any additional role-specific requirements.
Step 2: Submit a Volunteer Application
Most volunteers are required to complete an annual volunteer application and background check through the Raptor VolunteerSafe system used in our schools. Other requirements may apply based on your volunteer function.
An important note for chaperones: If you need quick approval of your application to chaperone a field trip or other activity, please only select the "Chaperone" function on the application. This will allow us to expedite your application.
Step 3: Attend Volunteer Orientation
Most volunteers must attend a one-time volunteer orientation. If you are unsure if the role you applied for requires an orientation, please consult our Volunteer Handbook or reach out to us. Volunteer orientations are only offered from July to February.
Step 4: Volunteer Approval and Placement
All applications are manually reviewed by RPS staff to ensure that all volunteer requirements are satisfied. Once your application is approved, you will be placed at a school and introduced to your volunteer point of contact, who will follow up to schedule your first volunteer visit.
Volunteer applications are reviewed regularly and you should expect to hear from us within 30 days of submitting your application.
Volunteer applications received during RPS breaks, including summer and winter breaks, may take longer to approve but we will be in touch once our school-based staff are ready to welcome you!
